Business Type: Must See Rotorua

The Forest is a wonderful place to visit, whether you just want somewhere to have a picnic lunch or want to go for a good tramp.

Address: Long Mile Drive, Rotorua Rotorua

Redwood Forest is for us one of the world's most beautiful forests. About 100 years ago, original Sequoia trees were brought from California and planted here and they have already grown to huge sizes. It's a great place to go for a walk, run or mountain bike.

Bring along your picnic and walking shoes, and spend some time exploring Rotorua’s stunning forest, with its towering redwood trees, wide shady paths and great lookouts! If you enjoy photography you will be rewarded with endless opportunities for gorgeous shots.

If you want to visit the grove of giant Californian Redwoods, the 30min Redwoods Track is nice and easy, and the path is wheelchair and pram friendly. If it’s views you’re after, then climb the Quarry Lookout Track (about 1.5hrs) and enjoy the stunning vista over Lake Rotorua.

There are plenty of other walks to choose from, with heaps of good picnic spots along the way. The park has great mountain bike trails too, so bring along your bike if you’re keen! Drop into the friendly Redwoods Visitor Centre for info on all the walking and mountain bike trails. There is lots of parking and toilet facilities available.
