A glacier-carved lake and picture-postcard alpine scenery – pack your camera, and take the drive out here to this tranquil setting.

Address: Lake Rotoroa, Rotoroa, Tasman Nelson Region

You may choose to lay out a picnic rug and simply enjoy the lakeside serenity, or there are plenty of short walks if you want to explore the area further.

Head off on the 25 minute short loop track, or the 2 hour Braeburn Walk for magnificent scenery and birdlife at every turn. A true gem of the region.

By road, St Arnaud, the main entry point for the national park, is 1 hour 30 minutes from Nelson or Blenheim, 5 hours from Christchurch, and 2 hours from Westport. Lake Rotoroa Village is 40 minutes from St Arnaud off State Highway 6.
