Business Type: Must See Masterton

There’s always something happening on the water at Henley Lake, from model yacht sailing and dragon boat racing, to jet skiing, fishing and wind surfing.

Address: Te Ore Ore Road, Masterton, Wairarapa Masterton, Wairarapa

Henley Lake has a network of flat walking tracks also suitable for cycling winding through 43 hectares of wetlands and native plantings with Henley Lake as the star.  Viewing towers over the lake and wetlands allow for a different perspective of the reserve.

There’s heaps of birdlife - someone recorded over 72 different species of birds. A few crusts of bread will make your kids mega popular with the ducks, geese and swans.

Henley Lake is the site of the ‘splash and dash’ event during one of the biggest events in Wairarapa, Balloons over Wairarapa. Balloonists test their skills with a flight over the lake dipping their basket into the water before taking off again.

The Waipoua River and Ruamahanga River flow along two sides of the reserve with excellent picnic spots along the banks.
The easy access and flat nature of Henley Lake make this one of the best things to do in Masterton for families.

The flat walking tracks link into Queen Elizabeth Park where there are more free things to do in Masterton.
Henley Lake is in Masterton on the Te Ore Ore Road to Castlepoint and Riversdale.
